Bedford Juvenile & Domestic Relations District Court hears matters regarding all juvenile traffic tickets, juvenile criminal charges, custody, visitation, child support, spousal support, adult criminal charges alleged to have been committed against a juvenile or a household or family member, including Parties that have a child in common. This site is here to help you understand the processes, legal terms and the court system, but is not meant to substitute for legal counsel from a lawyer or court official.

Bedford Circuit Court hears matters regarding divorces (including matters of custody, visitation, support, spousal support, separation of property, etc.), felonies, and appeals from district courts.  This Court is a court of record for matters regarding land records, marriage licenses, liens against property, wills, etc.  If you’re looking for Circuit Court, choose the orange button above to be redirected.

Bedford General District Court hears matters regarding all adult traffic tickets, adult criminal charges not involving a juvenile or family member, issues regarding personal property, real estate, bad checks, and vicious dogs.  If you’re looking for General District Court, choose the blue button above to be redirected.


The Bedford Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court Clerk's Office is responsible for processing all Case papers, for maintaining court records, and providing information to people involved in a case (to the extent permitted by Law). While court personnel are NOT permitted to offer legal assistance, they can provide general procedural information.

We can explain and Answer questions about how the Court works.

We can tell you what the requirements are to have yourcase considered by the Court.

We can give you some information from your case file.

We can provide you with samples of Court forms that are available.

We can give GENERAL guidance on how to fill out forms.

We can usually answer questions about Court deadlines.

 

We cannot give you legal advice. Only a lawyer can give you legal advice.

We cannot give you an opinion about what will happen if you bring your case to Court.

We cannot recommend a lawyer.

We cannot let you talk to the Judge outside of Court.

We cannot talk to the Judge for you about what will happen in your case.

We cannot change an Order issued by a Judge.

We cannot tell you whether or not you should bring your case to Court.

The Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court handles many kinds of cases, all of which have to do with family problems or cases involving minors or family members.
You may have come to this Court:

• Because a dispute is occurring between family members. These disputes may be civil or criminal in nature. Disputes may include custody of child or children,, visitation, or support. They may also include disputes where an adult is physically abusing a family member, certain members of the household or a child.
• Because a minor (a person under the age of 18) has been charged with an offense (such as robbery or assault). This is called a criminal case.
• Because a minor has habitually skipped school, run away from home, or poses a danger to him/herself or others. This is called a status (CHINS) case. CHINS are initials for Child In Need of Services or Child In Need of Supervision.

The Circuit Court hears major trials and appeals of cases from other courts, issues marriage licenses, and handles divorces and adoptions. The General District Court addresses landlord/tenant problems, evictions, collections, adult traffic offenses, and some criminal cases. Both of these courts are located in the courthouse. For general information about or help with cases pending in the Circuit Court or General District Court, contact those courts directly.

Because of confidentiality laws, the Clerk's Office can only provide limited information about cases. You must be a party to the case, provide a picture I.D., and sign an access form for access to a juvenile file or case information.
